The comment period closes next Monday, October 4th, for the National Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence (NCCoE) healthcare sector draft project description: Mitigating Cybersecurity Risk in Telehealth Smart Home Integration.

Feedback being sought on this draft to help refine the challenge and scope. Comments can be submitted online or email to hit_nccoe@nist.gov.

The NCCoE project will evaluate cybersecurity and privacy risks when patients use smart home devices to interact with clinical systems and identify measures that may mitigate risks in the patient home and the healthcare delivery organization.

It will include a freely available NIST Cybersecurity Practice Guide, that describes a reference architecture for smart home integration with healthcare systems as part of a telehealth program.

The public is encouraged to review the draft and provide feedback for possible incorporation into the final version before the public comment period closes.

After reviewing the comments, the Healthcare Project Team will adjudicate the comments and publish a final project description. At the same time, NIST will issue a Federal Register notice to seek technology collaborators with product components or capabilities that fit within each category of the project’s needs.

The NCCoE will then collaborate with the selected technology collaborators to develop an example solution to mitigate cybersecurity risk in telehealth smart home integration.
