NCCoE Seeks Collaborators for New Energy Sector Project

0

The National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST’s) National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) has issued a Federal Register notice, inviting cybersecurity vendors and other interested collaborators to participate in the latest NCCoE Energy Sector project, Securing the Industrial Internet of Things: Cybersecurity for Distributed Energy Resources. This final project description has been refined and updated based on thoughtful feedback received during the public comment period.

This latest NCCoE project will focus on helping energy companies secure information exchanges of distributed energy resources (DERs) in their operating environments. As an increasing number of DERs are connected to the grid, there is a need to examine the potential cybersecurity concerns that may arise from these interconnections.

Request and Complete a Letter of Interest
If you are interested in providing products or technical expertise as a collaborator on this project, please send an email to energy_nccoe@nist.gov requesting a Letter of Interest template.

When completing a Letter of Interest template, please ensure that:

  • all applicable form fields within the template are completed
  • any proffered contributions meet all acceptance criteria described in Section 1, Acceptance of Conditions
  • Terms and Conditions (Section 2) are acceptable
  • responses to Section 3, Description of Respondent’s Area of Interest, are as specific as possible
  • the Letter of Interest is signed and dated
  • completed letters are emailed to energy_nccoe@nist.gov

The NCCoE Energy Sector project team will contact respondents if there are questions regarding the applicability of their contributions to the project’s reference design objective or requirements identified in the Federal Register notice and detailed in the final project description.

Don’t Delay…
The NCCoE will select participants who have submitted a completed Letter of Interest on a first-come, first-served basis within each category of components or characteristics listed in the Federal Register notice up to the number of participants in each category necessary to carry out the project build.

If you are interested in providing your expertise to help guide this project, please join our Community of Interest by emailing us at energy_nccoe@nist.gov.

We are looking forward to a successful collaboration effort.
