Fire Rescue Victoria has reported a cybersecurity incident which caused issues with IT systems.

Via social posts on December 15, FRV reported crews and trucks continued to be deployed in response to incidents and community safety had not been compromised.

On December 19, FRV released an update statement confirming crews and appliances were being dispatched through mobile phones, pagers and radios.

The community should continue to call Triple Zero (000) as usual during this time.

The FRV stated, “We have taken decisive action in response to this incident and are working around the clock with specialist cyber security firms and our partners in the State and Federal Governments, including the Australian Cyber Security Centre. FRV will provide more information as it comes to hand.

Our investigation is ongoing as to the impact of this incident on FRV information. At this stage, while we have not found evidence that our information has been stolen, we are implementing plans on the assumption that this may be the case.

We acknowledge the significant support of the United Firefighters Union in assisting with our response to the situation and ensure community safety is not compromised.”
