ParaFlare has appointed David Fairman to its Board of Directors.

David is an experienced security executive with an extensive background in the Security and Financial Crime disciplines covering Cyber Security, Fraud and Investigations, Intelligence, Business Continuity, Physical Security and Operational Risk.

David is also the former Chief Security Officer of National Australia Bank. Prior to NAB, he was the Group Chief Information Security Officer for the Royal Bank of Canada and has held several security leaderships roles at JP Morgan Chase & Co and the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).

“ParaFlare is an Australian company dedicated to active cyber defence, which is all about hunting and eliminating cyber security threats on a network. I’m excited to bring my knowledge and experience to the Board of a great sovereign cyber company,” David said. “This will be a challenging year for businesses as threat actors continue to employ a range of traditional and more sophisticated tools and tactics, including deep fakes, social engineering attacks, and political influence. We need to think about what that means long term, including tactics designed to destabilise the internal culture of organisations and drive a divide in society.”

ParaFlare CEO Adam McCarthy said David Fairman will bring a new perspective to the Board and help shape the company as it continues to grow. “As cyber threats continue to increase, so too will the pressure on business leaders who need to make smart choices about their cyber security. The risk of getting it wrong will be extremely costly. David understands this first-hand and knows how to articulate cyber threats in a way that resonates with board members and executives.”

David is currently the Chief Security Officer Asia Pacific for Netskope and Partner & CISO-in-residence at SixThirty Ventures, a published author and adjunct professor at Deakin University.
