The Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) will partner with the Western Australian Government to stimulate the local ICT sector across the state.
Through the partnership, the AIIA will develop a post-COVID response for industry development which will result in the creation of ICT jobs as well as identify opportunities for digital transformation of large industry utilising local talent and businesses.
The AIIA CEO Ron Gauci, said: “We welcome the opportunity to partner with the McGowan Government to promote innovation and technology throughout WA and its industries. We have proven expertise in driving the ICT industry forward across the country and are excited to continue our work in WA.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has presented a once in lifetime opportunity for major reform and restructure of our economy and society. We believe the road to economic recovery is paved with innovation and investment in technology,” said Mr Gauci.
With the large portfolio of work, the AIIA will appoint a dedicated Western Australia (WA) Executive Support Officer to support the function of the WA State Council, the AIIA CEO and the GM of Policy and Advocacy.
The AIIA WA Council Chair Sharon Brown, said: “In close collaboration with the AIIA, the WA Executive Support Officer will provide governance advice and support for activities associated with the State Council, the Policy Advisory Networks in the AIIA, government agencies and Ministers.
“We are truly looking forward to collaborating with the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation to stimulate the local ICT industry. Working with Government means we can champion the local WA ICT industry helping to create more jobs and drive the digitisation of industry infrastructure,” said Ms Brown.
The AIIA is a not-for-profit organisation aimed at fuelling Australia’s future social and economic prosperity through technology innovation.
