Virtual IT Group (VITG) has appointed Maurice McCarthy as Chief Executive Officer, as the managed services provider enters what it describes as its next phase of growth across Australia and New Zealand.

Founder Christian Pacheco will transition to the role of Founding Director, where he will continue to focus on the company’s long-term vision, service development and mergers and acquisitions strategy.

Pacheco said the appointment followed a leadership review that considered the changing requirements of clients operating in complex cyber, regulatory and AI-driven environments.
Virtual IT Group provides IT, cloud and security services to mid-sized organisations across sectors including healthcare, financial services and education. Its service model includes a 24/7 ANZ-based Security Operations Centre and managed services delivery.

McCarthy brings experience leading technology and services businesses through expansion and operational change. According to the company, his priorities as CEO will include strengthening service reliability, improving client outcomes and embedding AI capabilities into service delivery.

The leadership change reflects ongoing consolidation and strategic repositioning within the managed services and cybersecurity sector, as providers adapt to rising demand for security oversight, regulatory compliance and AI integration.
