Ticketing Provider Turns Industry on Its Head

Megatix is disrupting the ticketing industry by providing event organisers with more control over customers’ data. Roshan Odhavji, the co-founder of Megatix, believes people are tired of ‘being the product’ and expects white-labelling will fundamentally change the way the ticketing industry functions.

“Customers are fed up with their email inboxes filling up with irrelevant information and sales pitches, and businesses want the chance to develop long-term relationships directly with their clientele. White-labelling for the ticketing industry satisfies both,” said Mr. Odhavji.

White-labelling means Megatix provides their robust ticketing technology to event organisers so they can become their own ticketing agent, while giving them more control over the ticketing process. All customer data is owned by the event organiser and there is no concept of an “opt-in” required, since they are transacting on the event organisers website and becoming their direct customer.

“We are first and foremost a technology provider and innovator, as such we have not bought into the all-too-common business model of collecting and selling data. Ticket buyers are the lifeblood of the event industry and are simply after meaningful interactions with their favourite bands, artists, comedians, and communities. They are not the product.”

“We believe that in today’s data-centric world, having a direct relationship with your customers is more important than ever, and event ticketing worldwide is currently dominated by a few major players that are all profiting from the industry rather than nurturing its growth.”

Many high-profile venues and events have switched to using Megatix software, including the Perth Royal Show, Untitled Group, Lost Paradise, Ice Cream Factory, and a number of large concert venues.

This year, the Megatix platform allowed the Perth Royal Show to process large volumes of sales both online and at gates, with up to 16,000 people per hour entering the event on its busiest day. The Perth Royal Show now owns all the ticketing and customer data and can communicate with ticket buyers ahead of next year’s show, instead of relying on a third party or low opt-in rates.

“We are proud of the role we’ve played supporting so many prominent local events, and we are eager to see other event organisers shift to a system that gives them control over their own customer data.

“The event industry is stronger when event organisers are in control of their own ticketing and customers, instead of having relationships hijacked by third-parties. We expect white-labelling to significantly disrupt the entire ticketing industry.”
