SolarWinds Launches Identity Monitor to Empower IT and Security Pros with Automated Account Takeover Prevention

New solution helps organizations improve security posture and mitigate risk proactively

SolarWinds (NYSE:SWI), has announced the launch of SolarWinds® Identity Monitor. The solution is designed to help IT and security professionals strengthen their security posture and combat instances of account fraud, loss of revenue, brand damage, and spam by automating account takeover (ATO) prevention.

Identity Monitor proactively notifies IT if credentials belonging to their organization’s domain have appeared in a data breach. Credential exposures are often uncovered through attempted sale on the “dark web”, the wider breadth of online content that does not appear through regular internet browsing activities. Identity Monitor allows IT to take steps to mitigate the risk posed by compromised credentials, and the customer gets notified to reset their password proactively, thereby reducing the opportunity for an ATO attempt.

“Account takeovers are a significant risk to businesses of all shapes and sizes, but there are too few ways to know and respond to these types of threats in a timely manner,” said Brandon Shopp, vice president, product strategy, security, SolarWinds. “With Identity Monitor, everyone from the security pro to the systems administrator can easily mitigate the threat of low-hanging vulnerabilities like employee credential thefts, while at the same time encouraging a more proactive security posture within their organizations.”

Identity Monitor also helps IT and security professionals encourage employees to set passwords in accordance with the National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST®) guidelines for strong passwords.

Identity Monitor is enabled through a partnership with SpyCloud, experts in recovering data breach information. “SpyCloud is proud to partner with SolarWinds to deliver SolarWinds Identity Monitor,” said Chris LaConte, chief strategy officer at SpyCloud. “Our world class breach database; unique, rapid intelligence collection methods; early data recovery technology; and the most plaintext passwords in the industry are designed to give Identity Monitor customers the ability to rapidly prevent exposures from becoming breached accounts.”
