NTT’s top cyber threats for December – QakBot, Ransomware-as-a-service & phishing

0

NTT Ltd. has launched its 2020 Global Threat Intelligence Report for December, sharing new insights on the top cyber threats in the coming month. These include:

  • The QakBot Threat – malspam campaigns distributing QakBot, a banking Trojan aimed at stealing credentials, hunting for financially related information and recording system keystrokes, are on the rise.
  • Ransomware-as-a-service becomes increasingly accessible – With social media and open sources, hackers need not search the dark web for access to their very own ransomware platforms anymore. Several threat actors have recently taken to popular social media and open sources like YouTube, Vimeo and Sellix to advertise and demonstrate their ransomware-as-a-service builder.
  • Phishing continues to be a prominent threat vector – phishing attacks have long been one of the most popular threat vectors used by attackers and this isn’t likely to stop anytime soon.
