Technology consultancy and software engineering company Mantel Group has hired cyber veteran and serial entrepreneur Nick Ellsmore to lead its cybersecurity capability. Mantel hopes to build its cyber capabilities to over 150 specialists within two years.
Ellsmore takes over from Adam Durbin, who will move into the role of Chief Technology Officer. “There is no better person than Nick to lead Mantel Group’s security capability to the next level,” said Durbin.
Ellsmore, a 25-year veteran of the Australian cybersecurity industry, says Mantel Group is well-positioned to solve the cybersecurity problems facing organisations.
“The market is shifting, and to have the maximum impact in the cybersecurity space, you need to do more than just cybersecurity,” he said. “The problem is not being able to close the known gaps. This may sound counter-intuitive coming from a security professional, but security professionals have a narrow field of vision. For security to be an enabler and not a burden, you need to step back and see the bigger picture.”
