Kroll, a division of Duff & Phelps, has expanded its breach notification services with the development and delivery of printed and electronic notifications to impacted stakeholders and deploy call centre services to ensure affected individuals are well informed and supported in responding to a data breach.

“Recent research from the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner indicates that identity theft and fraud, data security and data breaches are the biggest privacy risks cited by Australian consumers. Now more than ever, the way an organisation responds to a data breach, including steps taken to restore damage to brand and reputation, are critical,” said Louisa Vogelenzang, Associate Managing Director of Identity Theft and Breach Notification services in Kroll’s Cyber Risk practice.

“Australian organisations operating in different markets require support across several geographical regions and working knowledge of data breach notification in each region. Kroll’s work in Australia leverages extensive experience and expertise managing data breaches in multiple international markets. We look forward to servicing the increasing demand for data breach support services in Australia,” she added.

Brian Lapidus, Managing Director and Global Practice Leader for Identity Theft and Breach Notification services commented, “In an era where data breaches are increasingly common, it’s critical that businesses have access to the highest-quality breach response services that can operate in real time. The expansion of our data breach services in Australia reaffirms our commitment to servicing local companies with local resources, and it forms part of our ongoing investment in the Asia Pacific region.”

“The proposed amendments to data breach notification laws in Australia will see the country more aligned to European legislation like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Having a data beach response team that can combine global best practice with local knowledge and expertise will ensure an organisation’s breach response not only meets legislation requirements but also effectively supports impacted stakeholders and helps rebuild trust,” he added.

This expansion to serve the Australian market is a big step in Kroll’s commitment to develop global breach services with local expertise. The company now offers breach support in the U.S., Canada, the UK and Australia, with plans to expand further into EMEA and APAC. Duff & Phelps and Kroll’s full suite of services in Australia now include Cyber Risk, Restructuring Advisory, Transfer Pricing and Business Intelligence and Investigations.
