Australia’s Department of Home Affairs is asking private enterprises to help it determine how to validate the authenticity of the information disseminated by the Australian Government.

They have issued two open competitive grant opportunities as part of the problem-solving programme.

The first opportunity is a feasibility grant to test the technical and commercial viability of any entity’s proposed solutions to the challenge.

The second opportunity is a proof-of-concept grant, which supports the enterprise in building on its feasibility project and producing working prototypes or demonstrations.

Only applicants who complete a successful feasibility project will be invited to submit an application for proof of concept funding.

The programme is open to individuals and entities who satisfy the following criteria;

  • Have an Australian business number (ABN);
  • Are either an Australian-incorporated entity or an individual or partnership (provided you agree to form a company incorporated in Australia); and
  • Have an annual turnover of less than AUD20 million for the last three financial years.

A total of AUD500,000 is available to resolve the challenge posed by Home Affairs and the department plans to make a series of individual grants of between AUD50,000 and AUD100,000.

The deadline for applications is 5.00 pm (AEDST) on December 18, 2024. Applications can be made via www.business.gov.au.
