Registrations have opened for the Government Cyber Security Showcase Victoria 2026, a one-day event aimed at helping public sector leaders address accelerating cyber threats and strengthen whole-of-government resilience as digital risk continues to rise.
The Showcase will be held on 25 March 2026 at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne as part of Government Innovation Week Victoria, which runs from 24 to 26 March. Organised by Public Sector Network, the event is positioned to bring together senior government executives and cybersecurity practitioners to share practical, intelligence-led approaches to protecting public infrastructure and maintaining citizen trust.
With cyber security now recognised as a shared responsibility across government rather than a purely technical function, the 2026 program places strong emphasis on leadership, governance and organisational culture. The event theme, From Compliance to Confidence: Strengthening Victoria’s Cyber Foundations, reflects a shift away from checklist-driven security toward sustained capability and maturity.
Across strategic discussions and case-led sessions, attendees will examine how agencies can embed a security-first culture across departments, make targeted investments to modernise defences and assess cyber maturity using best-practice frameworks. The agenda also addresses rising operational pressures, including ransomware risk, evolving privacy obligations and the growing impact of AI-driven threats on public sector environments.
The program is structured around two core streams. Governance, Strategy and Risk focuses on executive decision-making, accountability and investment priorities, while Detection and Response is designed to support operational readiness and incident management in increasingly complex threat conditions.
Guidance for the program is provided by a steering committee of senior Victorian public sector leaders, including Maxine Harrison, CISO at the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action; representatives from Greater Western Water and the Victorian Department of Health; and Carsten Boeving from Cenitex. Their involvement reflects the cross-agency nature of cyber risk in government.
Featured speakers for the 2026 Showcase include Dr Greg Adamson, Portfolio CISO at the Department of Transport and Planning Victoria, alongside cyber leaders from across state government and public sector organisations.
For attendees, the event offers a mix of keynote presentations, case studies and panel discussions focused on practical outcomes rather than theory. Opportunities for cross-agency collaboration and peer-to-peer networking are positioned as a key benefit, supporting shared learning and alignment as Victorian agencies work to strengthen cyber resilience in an increasingly hostile digital environment.
