Allectum, in partnership with the SANS Institute, have announced a Veterans Cyber Academy Scholarship for 2022.
Hosted by the SANS Institute, the fully funded academy will offer 20 veterans and spouses the opportunity to undertake an industry-recognised cyber security training program at no cost.
This opportunity is aimed at former ADF members and their spouses who have no previous cyber training.
The Academy aims to reskill veterans with cyber training to create employment opportunities for them and address cyber skills shortages in Australia. The SANS Institute has successfully operated these academies with veterans in the UK and United States, with a very high percentage of applicants passing the course and being employed.
Allectum and the SANS Institute are providing this opportunity at their own cost with no further commitment from the individual.
The Academy will consist of an aptitude assessment and screening process with selected candidates undertaking a structured 16-week academy covering three SANS Institute courses.
Courses are held online and predominantly out of hours, culminating in an intensive three-week period.
Each course culminates with an exam and an industry-recognised certification. Throughout the training, candidates will receive mentoring and support from professionals in the cyber security industry to aid their successful completion of the course.
The courses offered by the SANS Institute are globally recognised and identified by the Department of Defence and the Australian Government as critical training for the future workforce of cyber professionals.
Throughout the Academy delivery period, we will engage with cyber security employers to identify suitable placement opportunities for Academy graduates. This supported transition will ensure graduates achieve employment at the end of the Academy while also addressing the cyber security needs of Australian industry.
