New data from an OpenText–Ponemon study of nearly 1,900 global CIOs and IT security leaders highlight while AI adoption is surging, the governance and security gaps remain a barrier for CIOs and technology executives.
Key findings for Australia include:
- More than half (54%) say reducing AI security and legal risks is “very” or “extremely” difficult.
- Fewer than half (41%) say IT and security goals are aligned with AI strategy, leaving most organisations exposed.
- The most common risk mitigation tactics are data governance frameworks (45%), followed by AI-specific security programs (37%) and staff training (37%).
- Only 42% of CIOs are very or highly confident in measuring ROI from securing and managing information.
Developed in partnership with the Ponemon Institute, the report, “The Challenges to Ensuring Information Is Secure, Compliant and Ready for AI“, revealed that 51% of Australian enterprises have already embedded AI into their IT and business strategies, among the highest adoption rates globally.
