RSA, a Dell Technologies business, has launched local hosting for RSA SecurID® Access. The move allows Australian and New Zealand organisations to adopt identity (ID) authentication and minimising down-time of critical cloud applications.
RSA SecurID Access will be hosted inside Microsoft Azure’s ‘protected’ level data centres in Canberra, which is certified by the Australian Signals Directorate to meet the security standards of Federal Government Agencies. The data centres are designed for critical infrastructure, accredited for the handling of secret defence classified data, and currently process a lot of that data across the federal government. Physical security, supply chain integrity and personnel security are all addressed in these highly resilient data centres. This is a critical step for RSA in achieving ‘protected’ Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) certification, which it hopes to have in place by the end of the year.
The move allows RSA to keep critical information related to ID on-shore and allows many Australian and New Zealand organisations that need to comply with certain privacy and data sovereignty legislation to move to RSA’s gold standard in ID authentication. This includes all Government and Financial Services organisations that need to comply with The Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). RSA already has clients on-board using the solution, including IT services and solutions provider Data#3.
Local hosting will also improve network latency for local customers, making access to any cloud application much faster. Locally hosted services maintenance will be aligned to Australian business hours, rather than the US or Europe, minimising down time during critical times.
RSA also monitors user behaviour and applies machine learning to detect any anomalies and takes action when risky behaviour is detected in real-time. Despite the high level of security, RSA has ensured that access for users remains easy and convenient through the multi-authentication mobile app. Through the app, users can authenticate their ID through their mobile in a number of ways – from a simple tap of a button through to fingerprint or facial recognition.
Craig Dore, Identity Solutions Manager, RSA Australia and New Zealand, said: “RSA Security is extremely committed to Australia, New Zealand and our local customers. This is an important market for RSA that we will continue to invest in to provide our local customers with the very best technology and services. As more business and data moves into the cloud, and as legislation becomes tougher, security – especially ID and access – is becoming a top priority for organisations. We are happy that we can now offer more Australian organisations access to our identity and access management solution to help overcome these challenges to remain secure and productive.”
