The Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) welcomed Melissa Price’s appointment as shadow minister for cybersecurity and the coalition shadow ministry’s strong focus on innovation, industry, and energy.
ATSE says it looks forward to working with Price again to advance Australia’s science and technology agenda and acknowledges the critical role the shadow portfolio team for industry, energy, and emissions reduction will play during the transition period.
“The new shadow ministers have an important role in policy development over the next three years across science, innovation and energy,” said ATSE CEO Kylie Walker. “We look forward to engaging with the shadow ministers to provide independent expert advice drawing on ATSE’s network of fellows.”
ATSE also welcomes Senator Jonathon Duniam as shadow minister for education and early learning. As the education sector progresses through the implementation of the Universities Accord recommendations, ATSE wants him to work constructively and collaboratively on education policy.
ATSE also acknowledges the service of outgoing shadow ministers, including outgoing Shadow Minister for Science Senator Claire.
