Cowbell has appointed Gerry Power as General Manager, Australia, as the cyber insurance provider expands its local operations.
The newly created role will see Power lead market development, distribution strategy and the build-out of Cowbell’s Australian operations, with a focus on broker distribution. Cowbell said Power will work alongside Anthony Wall, Head of Underwriting, Australia, to support underwriting operations aligned with the company’s global risk approach.
Cowbell said its Australia growth forms part of a broader international strategy, alongside its operations in the United States, United Kingdom and India.
Power brings more than 35 years’ experience across underwriting, distribution and governance, according to the company.
Jack Kudale, founder and CEO of Cowbell, said: “Australia is a key market for Cowbell as we continue to expand internationally. Gerry brings deep market experience and strong broker relationships, which are critical to building a cyber insurance business that is both practical and responsive to local needs. His leadership will help us support brokers with clear, tailored solutions that strengthen how they protect their clients.”
Prior to joining Cowbell, Power held senior roles at Emergence Insurance, CGU, AMP and Dexta Corporation/Stardex Insurance Group. Cowbell said he helped grow Emergence’s business as Head of Sales and later led CGU’s entry into the Australian cyber insurance market as a senior underwriter and cyber subject matter expert.
Cowbell said Power also helped develop an online technology insurance platform at Dexta/Stardex and led AMP’s entry into the directors’ and officers’ liability market as Head of D&O for Australia and New Zealand.
