Optus to Offer Threat Monitoring Service for Enterprise & Mid-Market Customers

Optus and security analytics data company Devo Technology have partnered to introduce an around-the-clock threat monitoring service to the Australian market. Using the Devo Security Data Platform, Optus will achieve real-time visibility of potential and emerging network threats. The new automated threat monitoring system operates alongside the Optus Network Operation Centre and Security Operation Centre.

The system will target Optus’s enterprise and mid-market customers, offering them services and insights into their organisation’s security posture using real-time analytics, artificial intelligence, and intelligent automation from Devo.

The telco says that combined with its own Network Operation Centre and Security Operation Centre, it will be able to provide additional layers of protection to customers’ cyber ecosystem that can only be done at a telecommunications network level.

“We know how critical cybersecurity continues to be and the importance of continuing to invest in new technology, particularly as the threat landscape continues to evolve, said Optus’s Danny Price. “Optus partners with many of the best security vendors in the world to ensure our enterprise customers have the support they need to act quickly and identify threats.

Optus says the addition of the Managed Threat Monitoring Service is an example of further investments it is making into its security offering ecosystem for businesses. It integrates Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR), and User and Entity Behaviour Analytics (UEBA) through AI and ML to correlate and analyse logs ingested from network-connected devices and threat intelligence gathered worldwide.

The platform then creates security alert tickets in the Optus AI-enabled ITSM Nucleus platform in near real-time. These tickets can then be prioritised and triaged by Optus’ Security Operation Centre, which is on call 24/7. The team can then leverage automation to quickly deploy specific countermeasures.

“As the global threat landscape continues to expand at an unprecedented pace, it’s critical that organisations have the right technology, people, and processes in place to combat cybercrime and keep their businesses safe,” said Devo’s Asia Pacific Vice President Nicky Choo. “By partnering with Optus, a leader in Managed Security Services in Australia, our shared customers can maximise the Devo Security Data Platform and have peace of mind knowing that a team of experts is dedicated to helping them achieve their security goals.”
