HopgoodGanim Lawyers has announced the consolidation of its Cyber Security practice with the appointment of Steven Hunwicks as Head of Cyber Security.
Steven is a Special Counsel in the company’s Intellectual Property, Technology and Cyber Security (IPTC) team.
He has over two decades of legal and commercial experience advising businesses and government on cyber security preparedness, cyber incident response, data privacy, and large-scale technology projects and contracting.
Hayden Delaney, who leads the firm’s IPTC practice, commented on the breadth of Steven’s expertise and his focus in this new role. “Steven is very experienced at guiding clients through the unfortunate events that take place during and following a cyber security incident. As Head of our Cyber Security practice, Steven will also work proactively with clients in their cyber security assessments and preparedness to ensure a successful incident response.”
Steven is a part of the Queensland Law Society (QLS) Cyber Security Working Group, comprising an interdisciplinary team of industry experts, members of the legal profession and QLS staff who collaborate on issues relating to cyber security response, threats and online fraud.
“Steven brings a wealth of expertise and extensive knowledge in supporting our clients to solve the specific types of cyber challenges that they face. His appointment underlines the importance of this issue to our clients and the growth in this area of advice that HopgoodGanim has experienced in recent times,” Managing Partner Luke Mountford said.
