From today, all government entities are required to self-assess their cloud services under new requirements from the Australian Signals Directorate following the expiry of Cloud Services Certification Program (CSCP).
To help agencies navigate these new requirements, AWS has released documentation to help plan, architect, and self-assess systems built on AWS. In July 2020, AWS successfully completed its third Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) assessment at the PROTECTED level for the Asia Pacific (Sydney) region, and now has 92 PROTECTED services for the region.

- Cynterra, an Australian owned, Canberra based APN partner, provides government agencies with AWS hosted secure gateway services. These services include Secure Internet Gateways (SIG), Secure Email Gateways (SEG), Application Gateway services and GovLink Gateways. All Gateways have been built and IRAP assessed to process data up to and including the PROTECTED data classification.
- Australian Artificial Intelligence (AI) Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) company Faethm is an APN Technology Partner. Since going all-in on AWS in 2018, Faethm has doubled its business annually, and now works with more than 100 customers across 21 industries to help plan, and train their workforces. Strategy and transformation teams of organisations such as MIT Technology Review and the Luxembourg government use Faethm’s predictive modelling capability to analyse which jobs need re-skilling, and which need upskilling, and how to plan for change.
- Shine Solutions is an AWS Advanced Consulting Partner, with 90 percent of their customers using AWS. Being a member of the APN has helped open new business channels, and Shine Solutions has grown its revenue by 20 percent year on year in the last financial year, and won five government projects in one quarter.
- APN partner, Whispir, a cloud-based communications workflow platform is being used by 22 Australian government agencies for COVID-19 communications including ambulance services in three jurisdictions, Victoria Department of Health and Human Services and Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads.
