On the 21st of February, 23 veterans and spouses will begin five months of intensive cyber training as part of Australia’s first Veteran Cyber Academy designed specifically for veterans and their spouses.

In 2021, Allectum and the SANS Institute partnered to create the first Australian Veteran Cyber Academy.

Over the past year, Allectum has worked pro bono with the SANS Institute to design a curriculum that blended cyber security, soft skill training and employment preparation to obtain the following objectives:

  • Give veterans the opportunity to move into the cyber security industry
  • Provide real education that is Defence and industry recognised worldwide

“Put simply, the SANS Cyber Academy is the best mechanism out there to accelerate students’ development in this all-important profession. – James Lyne, SANS Instructor”

The Allectum team volunteered 100% of its time, money, and effort to support the veteran community in addition to contributing to the national security posture.

23 veterans or their spouses from around Australia are now taking the next big step of moving into the cyber security industry while providing a continuation of their service to the nation.

Congratulations to the 23 for being part of Australia’s cyber security capability.
