Cydarm Technologies has announced the appointment of Phil Cole as Technical Account Manager.
Based in Brisbane, Cole will apply his knowledge as a security operations subject matter expert to support Cydarm customers with their technical needs, providing training, building playbooks, and helping them to utilise the Cydarm platform to uplift their cyber resilience.
Cole joins Cydarm Technologies in this new company appointment with more than 20 years’ experience in engineering and cybersecurity technical management. He was previously Principal Security Advisor at Suncorp Group where he was practice lead for security operations and incident response. During his more than three years with the Group he raised the maturity of the organisation’s security operations in incident response capability and transformed the company’s security operations practices and team expertise.
Prior, he was Team Leader for Security Operations at AusCERT where he managed a team of analysts providing security operations and incident response to the University of Queensland. He also provided expert advice and assistance to AusCERT’s members, across the majority of industry verticals, and local, state and federal government agencies. This included assisting the Australian Red Cross Blood Service with their 2016 data breach of donor information. He also helped establish threat intelligence sharing groups for different markets, including state government agencies and higher education.
Cole brings a diverse set of skills and experiences from earlier on in his career. He worked as a Biomedical Engineer at Queensland Health, where he worked in areas including engineering risk management, patient safety, regulatory compliance, medical IT systems, medical device information security. He also worked within a Human Factors research group, which focused on improving the human factor in safety critical systems.
